Ambala: Man arrested for stabbing teen to death; case registered


AMBALA: The police on Saturday arrested an accused under charges of murder and attempt to murder after he stabbed two persons in Panjokhra village of Ambala district on Friday evening.
The police said that the arrested accused has been identified as Angrej Singh (24) of Tundli village in Ambala district, who would be produced in the court on Sunday.
As per the information, a 17-year-old boy identified as Akash Kumar, residing with his relatives in Panjokhra village was allegedly stabbed over a petty issue who later succumbed to his injuries and his uncle Ajay Kumar (32) who attempted to help him got seriously injured in Panjokhra village on Friday evening.
On the complaint of Akash’s uncle Ajay Kumar of Sherpur Veeran village of Karnal district, a case has been registered against Angrej Singh of Tundli village under Section 302 (punishment for murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Panjokhra police station at 11.05 pm on Friday.
In his police complaint, Ajay stated to the police, “I work as a farm labourer in Panjokhra village and live here in a rented room. On Friday, I along with my son Kartik alias Karan and nephew Akash had come to Chacha Karyana Store in Panjokhra for shopping. At about 6 pm, Angrej of Tundli village also came to the store on his motorcycle. He said to Kartik and Akash that why are they looking at him and he started scuffling with them. When I attempted to stop them, Angrej pulled out a knife and stabbed Akash twice in his chest on the left and right sides. When I and Karan attempted to save Akash, Angrej attacked me three times with the same knife on the left side in my chest.”
“People gathered there, and Angrej fled the spot with a knife leaving his motorcycle behind. Karan with the help of people rushed me and Akash to PHC (primary health centre), Panjokhra, where the doctor declared Akash dead. After the first aid, I was referred to the civil hospital, Ambala City”, further stated Ajay.
Panjokhra police station house officer (SHO) sub-inspector (SI) Mohan Lal said Ajay was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh by the doctors in Ambala and his condition is out of danger.
The SHO said that as per preliminary investigation, Akash used to work with his relatives in Panjokhra as a farm labourer and he used to study in the school.
“We have arrested accused Angrej on Saturday and he will be produced in the court on Sunday for his police-remand. In the past, Angrej has a criminal case of assault registered against him at Panjokhra police station. He stabbed Akash over a petty issue after having a heated argument with him at the store. Angrej used to keep a knife with him and he stabbed Akash and his uncle and fled the spot. We are still investigating the matter”, added the Panjokhra SHO SI Mohan.
