Bihar migrants arrested for mysterious death of Kaithal man in Yamunanagar


YAMUNANAGAR: Two migrants of Bihar have been arrested by the Yamunanagar police on Saturday, allegedly for their role in the mysterious death of a Kaithal district man.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sanjeet and Mitlesh of Bihar and they have been taken on two-day police remand as per court orders, told the Yamunanagar police.
On Thursday, a man identified as Sandeep (25) of Saran village in Kaithal district died under mysterious circumstances in Damla village area of Yamunanagar. Reportedly, Sandeep was brutally thrashed by some residents who lived in labour quarters in Damla area on suspicion of him being a thief, following which he had died.
On Thursday, on the complaint of Naseem Qureshi of Model Town area in Damla village of Yamunanagar district, the Haryana Police registered a case against unknown under Section 34 (common intention) and 304 (culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Yamunanagar Sadar police station.
Naseem stated to the police, “I run a mobile shop in Kamboj Majri, Damla and a while ago, some mobile phones had got stolen from my shop. I had lodged a complaint in this regard at Yamunanagar Sadar police station. On Thursday, at 5.20am, I received a call on my mobile from Uma Shankar of Bihar, who told me that they have caught a thief. It could be him who has stolen your mobile phones and I along with my uncle Farukh Qureshi and son Ashraf Qureshi went to the spot at labour quarters of Balwant of Kishanpura Damla village. We witnessed that labourers who worked at plywood factories had assaulted a youth and he was tied and seated at the ground.”
“They told that at around 2am, this youth had entered their quarters in an attempt to commit theft and that his accomplices managed to flee while he slipped in an attempt to run. They told me that they have assaulted and beaten him up and we then opened ropes from his body and intimated the police. The man was rushed to civil hospital for treatment by the police where he was declared dead by the doctors”, further stated Naseem.
Sandeep’s family members claimed that he had left home for Haridwar to bring kanwar and that he cannot commit any crime like theft.
“On Saturday, the family members of Sandeep had arrived here and his body has been handed over to them after an autopsy. We have arrested two accused Sanjeet and Mitlesh of Bihar state and today they were presented in the court which granted their two-day police remand for further investigation”, told SHO Sukhbir.
