Covid-19: Two deaths, 160 fresh cases, 169 discharged in Ambala


AMBALA: Two patients died of Covid-19 in Ambala on Thursday, taking the death toll to 67, said civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
“Two patients who died include a 71-year-old man of Ambala City who was a patient of hypertension and heart disease and second is a 60-year-old man of Ambala Cantt who was a patient of diabetes and had low oxygen saturation. Ambala’s mortality rate is 1.01%”, said Dr Singh.
“Ambala reported 160 fresh positive cases on Thursday, increasing the case tally to 6,550, with 1,298 active cases. As many as 80 cases were from Ambala City, 30 from Chourmastpur, 17 each from Ambala Cantt and Shahzadpur, 10 from Naraingarh, four from Barara and two from Mullana”, said Dr Singh.
As many as 169 patients were discharged on the day, taking the recovery count to 5,185, with the recovery rate of 78.50%, he said.
“So far, we have collected 80,715 samples for Covid-19 testing in Ambala, of which, 65,899 are RT-PCR samples and 14,816 are antigen testing kit samples. In the district, we have collected 71,556 samples per 10 lakh population”, said Dr Singh.
