Drug peddler held with 200g opium in Ambala, taken on four-day police remand


AMBALA: Acting on a tip-off, Ambala police crime investigation agency (CIA)-1 arrested a drug peddler identified as Bhagwan Das of Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), after recovering 200g opium from his possession under limits of Ambala City police station in Haryana on Thursday night.
A case under Section 18 (punishment for contravention in relation to opium poppy and opium) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Ambala City police station (PS).
On Friday, accused Bhagwan was presented in a local court, which sent him on four-day police remand with CIA-1.
Ambala police officials said earlier that the accused had been booked in two cases of the NDPS Act when opium was recovered from him in Ludhiana district of Punjab.
