Farrukhnagar rly line to be electrified: Minister

Gurgaon: In a major boost to rail connectivity in the district, Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh announced on Friday that that tender for electrification of railway line between Garhi Harsaru and Farrukhnagar has been finalised. The project will be completed within nine months from the time of commencement of the work.
Singh’s close aide further shared that a company has been identified to carry out the work and the work will begin in a week or two.
“Electrification of Garhi Harsaru to Farrukhnagar rail line has been given to Salasar Techno Company. About 22 crore will be spent to build the 13-km railway line,” the BJP functionary told TOI.
The announcement came after Singh met Union railway minister Piyush Goyal and said that work on this rail route has not made any progress since 2018 when the tender process was rolled out.
“I had raised the demand during the tenure of former Union minister Suresh Prabhu. He had announced to approve this work in the railway budget. After getting the approval, I approached the railway officials several times but they showed lackadaisical approach in awarding the tender,” said Rao Inderjit Singh.
Singh further noted that he had even held a few meetings with Goyal and has been pressing to get things rolling on the ground as this has been one of his pet project. “During the previous meeting with Piyush Goyal, I had demanded that the tender process be completed soon. Recently, during the budget session, he had also reiterated the demand to start work on the scheme after which he instructed the railway officials to start the electrification work of Garhi Harsaru to Farukhnagar railway line soon,” Singh added.
Speaking about the development, Rao Inderjit Singh told TOI, “Delhi-Rewari part is already completed and only this patch was remaining. Now, all the hurdles have been cleared and work will begin in a week.”
