AMBALA: In a breakthrough against drug smugglers active in the Yamunanagar city area, the anti-narcotics cell of Yamunanagar police arrested an man after recovering 112.02gm smack (heroin) worth about Rs 4 lakh from his possession on Saturday night, superintendent of police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal said.
The arrested accused has been identified as Allah Banda of Atmapuri Colony of Old Hamida area.
SP Kamaldeep said accused Banda was presented in the district court on Sunday, which sent him on a four-day police remand for further investigation.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of ASI Rajesh Kumar, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Yamunanagar City police station on Saturday.
Yamunanagar anti-narcotics cell in-charge inspector Mahavir said, “The seized smack is the biggest recovery so far in Yamunanagar district and it is worth about Rs 4 lakh.”
