Haryana offices to open today with 50% staff

CHANDIGARH: Haryana offices will start functioning with 50% of the staff strength from Monday amid the lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak. While all officers of A and B category will attend office, class C and D staff will work in rotations. The Haryana government offices in Chandigarh handling essential services will work with skeleton staff while departments involved in non-essential services will not be allowed to operate, said UT officials.
After a sudden outbreak of Covid-19 positive cases following a lull, the MHA has put Chandigarh in red zone and the entire city has been declared containment area with maximum restrictions. “There are clear MHA guidelines, that we strictly follow the containment zone protocol. As such, status quo will continue in Chandigarh for Haryana government offices,” Chandigarh DC Mandeep Brar said.
Barring areas in containment zones, the government will allow medium, small and micro industrial units to function with certain conditions. Sale and services of electrical equipment will be allowed to work after permission. The government also plans to let book store owners work on the basis of home delivery system.
