Haryana: Rs 1 lakh, cellphone snatched from factory owner in Ambala


AMBALA: Police registered a case of snatching after a steel factory owner alleged that two motorcycle-borne youths snatched his bag containing Rs 1 lakh cash, his mobile phone and some cheques on knife point late on Saturday.
Saroj Kumar, the factory owner, lodged a complaint against unknown persons and a case was registered under Section 379-A (punishment for snatching) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Mahesh Nagar police station on Sunday.
“I have a steel factory at Dukheri village in Ambala, and on Saturday at about 9.30pm, I was heading back home from work. I was carrying a bag containing Rs 1 lakh cash, two cheques worth Rs 40,000 and Rs 17,770 respectively, factory keys and documents. At about 10 pm, when I reached on Brahman Majra village road after crossing Dukheri railway crossing, two motorcycle-borne youths stopped my bike. They snatched my bag, phone on knife point and fled towards Dukheri railway crossing on their bike.”
Station house officer (SHO) inspector Jaswant Singh said, “We have registered a case and efforts are being done to trace the accused. So far, no arrests have been made in this case.”
