CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police have apprehended five members of a gang in Panipat which was involved in executing over one-and-half dozen of loot and snatching incidents in three districts of Panipat, Sonipat and Jind.
Haryana Police spokesperson said on Wednesday that the gang was busted by a team of the Crime Investigation Agency near Jatal Road in Panipat while they were trying to plot another crime. The arrested accused were identified as Sonu (kingpin), Rajesh, Anil, Sandeep and Aman.
He said that a CIA team during patrolling had got a secret input from an informer about the presence of four-five suspicious persons at an isolated plot who committed criminal offences. Police team immediately swung into action and managed to arrest all five accused following a raid.
During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that the members of the gang had executed 19 loot and snatching incidents including 9 in Panipat district alone. The gang was mainly active in three districts and used to target salesmen and escape after the crime to evade arrest.
All accused were taken on two-day police remand to recover looted goods and commodities. Further probe is under way.
