Kurukshetra: Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for murder


KURUKSHETRA: The district court of Kurukshetra on Tuesday convicted an accused and sentenced him 10 years imprisonment for murder under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with a fine of Rs 25,000.
In default of paying the fine, convict would have to undergo additional imprisonment of one year told, district attorney Rajbir Singh.
The Kurukshetra court of district and session judge Ajay Kumar Sharda convicted Dhanpat Singh of Arnecha village of Pehowa area of the district under murder charges told advocate Rajbir.
Rajbir said on September 15, 2018, Sonu of Arnecha village lodged a complaint against his uncle Dhanpat Singh at Pehowa police station alleging that he murdered his brother Sandeep over petty issues.
“Sonu stated to the police that his uncle Dhanpat was a habitual drinker. On September 12, 2018, his brother Sandeep and Dhanpat had a scuffle over a petty issue at his uncle’s house. In the evening, Dhanpat started fighting with Sandeep over the scuffle, and during the fight; he hit him with a wooden stick in his head. Sandeep fell on the ground and Dhanpat continued to hit him repeatedly. Sandeep was rushed to the Mission Hospital, Pehowa, and then to a private hospital in Kurukshetra. He was referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries”, told advocate Rajbir.
He said accused Dhanpat was arrested on May 9, 2019, and a trial was executed against him.
