No new Covid-19 case in Gurugram, Palwal and Mewat

GURUGRAM: No new case of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) was reported on Friday from Gurugram, Palwal and Mewat. Despite the districts running a high-risk status, the administrations and health departments on Friday stated that they were successful in keeping the spread under check and contain cluster transmission. Till now, Gurugram has a total of 30 cases, whereas Palwal has 28 and Mewat has 38 positive cases.
According to the health department, the ban on movement and quarantining of people with symptoms helped them check the infection spread. “We have started aggressive testing in Gurugram. Local residents’ associations, societies and even individuals played an important role by staying indoors and ensuring the correct outcome,” said JS Puniya, chief medical officer in Gurugram.
He pointed out that the quick move to cancel all public events, shutting down of gyms, spas, restaurants and malls saved the city from becoming another hotspot. The city has already created nine containment zones and intensive sanitisation is being ensured by MCG in the areas.
He also said that in Pataudi and Sohna, where a number of new cases have been reported, are completely sealed and health department teams are surveying every house to contain the spread of the virus.
Similarly, Palwal devised a three-step plan that includes gathering data of each individual in the containment zone, screenings and ban on movement. “In the last three days, we have not had a single positive case. Test results of pending samples were also negative,” said Palwal chief medical officer, Brahmdeep Sandhu.
