Rohtak: Dhankhar should apologise for Jat violence, says Malik

ROHTAK: Stoking the ambers, president of All India Jat Arakshan Sangrash Samiti (AIJASS) Yashpal Malik on Saturday accused former agriculture minister Om Prakash Dhankhar of “inciting violence during the 2016 Jat quota stir”.
While interacting with mediapersons after a meeting of AIJASS national executive committee at Jassia village on Saturday, Malik claimed, “When the agitation call of Jat Sangrash Samiti, led by Hawa Singh Sangwan, failed to mobilse support in February, 2016, it was ex-minister O P Dhankhar who got a separate committee registered in the name of Jat Arakshan Sangrash Samiti through his relative. That committee mobilised support on February 14 in Sampla from where the law and order situation started deteriorating and big scale violence occurred in Rohtak and neighbouring districts.”
Malik demanded that Dhankhar should apologise for letting environment be vitiated in the Jat areas and letting other elements take advantage of the lawlessness.
On the other hand, Dhankhar rubbished the allegations leveled by Malik. He said public could read between the lines and knew who did the Jat leader work for. He also welcomed the ‘pardon’ given to those accused of arson at the house of former minister Capt Abhimanyu in 2016, on the initiative of some khaps.
Interestingly, he also said that BJP state and central governments had not fulfilled their promise to include Jat community in the other backward class (OBC) category and withdraw all cases registered during the reservation stir.
To mobile support on the same issues, AIJASS launched ‘Bhaichara Yatra’ from Rohtak on Saturday. The yatra would go to all assembly segments and culminate on February 22 at Sonipat.
