Three kids injured after car hits auto-rickshaw in Ambala


AMBALA: Three minor students received injuries on Saturday morning when they were going to school in an auto-rickshaw with their grandfather on National Highway 44 after an Innova car bearing number PCC-0082 hit their vehicle near New Sabji Mandi, Devi Nagar and fled the spot.
As per the information, some passerby and police chased the accused driver who was arrested at Devi Nagar toll plaza. Accused driver has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, said the police.
The injured students have been identified as Daljit (7), Bhawna (13), and Komal (13) of Devi Nagar, Ambala City and they were going to the government school in Devi Nagar.
After being allegedly hit by an Innova car, the auto-rickshaw carrying students turned over and accused car driver fled the spot, leaving the injured persons behind.
As per sources, PCC-0082 Innova is registered with Sangrur Road Transport Authority (RTA) in the name of one Rajwinder Singh.
Some passers-by immediately came to rescue, and one of them transported the injured students to civil hospital, Ambala City in his car, while others went on to chase the accused driver and intimated the police.
“After receiving the information, our PCR was immediately rushed towards Devi Nagar toll plaza as accused driver had fled in that direction. We managed to arrest him and another occupant of Innova along with their vehicle at the toll plaza and further proceedings are being conducted”, said sub-inspector Suresh Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Ambala Sadar police station.
On receiving the information from the police control room, Ambala Sadar police station team reached the spot for inspection.
Meanwhile, the injured students were given treatment for their injuries at the city hospital.
