Two held for bid to rob ATM in Ambala


AMBALA: The Ambala police on Saturday arrested two persons for attempting to break open an ATM on Hisar road in Ambala City. Those arrested have been identified as Parveen Kumar and Pardeep Kumar of Parshuram Nagar in Ambala City.
They would be presented before a duty magistrate on Sunday, Ambala City police station house officer (SHO) inspector Ram Kumar said.
On Saturday early hours, the bank head office officials received an emergency alert from the ATM booth signalling that someone was attempting to break open the machine. They immediately alerted the Ambala-based bank manager, who further intimated the police that visited the spot for an inspection.
“Due to timely alert and advanced security system installed at this ATM booth, our teams in joint efforts with the crime investigation agency (CIA)-1 managed to arrest two accused the very same day. Every bank should install such a security system that can help in averting ATM robberies,” SHO Ram Kumar said.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of bank’s head cashier Chaman Lal, a case against unknown persons at Ambala City police station.
